CIVIL PARTNERSHIP
In the UK, December 5th, 2005 was a date to celebrate because it was the date on which the Government
finally allowed loving couples in a same-sex relationship to legally register their commitment to one another and benefit from the same laws
that govern traditional married states.

So if you are in a same-sex relationship and want to legalise your commitment, you can do so by
contacting your local Register office. Good information on what is involved can be found on the Government website
at: http://www.womenandequalityunit.gov.uk/civilpartnership/findout.htm
However, this is just the legal aspect and many couples are now also choosing to declare their love for
each other in the presence of family and friends by having their own special commitment ceremony. The one I recently attended as a guest,
was a beautiful occasion where rings and vows were exchanged - and the beauty of an Interfaith ceremony is that
it can be created to suit exactly what you as a couple desire. It can reflect any spiritual or religious beliefs you may hold or just
contain beautiful readings and music. I will work with you to provide as much or little guidance as you require and be honoured to be your
celebrant on the day.
