Civil Partnership
In the UK, December 5th, 2005 was a date to celebrate because it was the date on which the Government finally
allowed loving couples in a same-sex relationship to legally register their commitment to one another and benefit
from the same laws that govern traditional married states.
So if you are in a same-sex relationship and want to legalise your
commitment, you can do so through your local Registration office. Good information on what is involved can be
found on the Government website at http://www.civilpartnerships.org.uk/
However, this is just the legal aspect and many couples are now also choosing to declare their love for each
other in the presence of family and friends by having their own special commitment ceremony where they exchange
rings and personalised vows. The beauty of an Interfaith ceremony is that it is created to suit exactly what you as
a couple desire. It can reflect any spiritual or religious beliefs you may hold or just contain beautiful readings
and music. I will work with you to provide as much or little guidance as you require and be honoured to be your
celebrant on the day.
The additional benefit of having an Interfaith Minister is that the venue you choose does not have to be
licensed for marriages, which of course means you have much more flexibility. So it could be a castle, a hotel, a
barn, your back garden, a boat or a field (although I always recommend a Plan B for outdoor celebrations!)

"Dear Akasha, we write to express our gratitude to you for the way in which
you have held, and supported us through the process of our commitment to each other. We have
received so many compliments about the service, and yourself, the setting, the words, and
your presence over it all. Thank you so very much for that day."

"Dear Akasha, thank you so much from both of us. The service was lovely
and your leadership and guidance helped create a "vibe" and positive energy that stayed the
rest of the day/evening. Had I scripted the entire event I could not have created such a
wonderful ceremony. It was full of real sincerity and love."

“My partner Julie and I had set the date of our civil partnership, but
really wanted the occasion to be a bit more special than a guest appearance in a registry
office. We decided that after the legalities were over, we would indulge ourselves in a
blessing in our beautiful back garden in front of all our family and friends. Sounds easy?
Imagine how difficult the task of searching thousands of internet sites to find someone to do
our blessing. I can tell you, it was extremely frustrating and soul destroying. After 4 days,
we found Akasha at Simply Divine Ceremonies. If ever there were three little words to
encapsulate our special day, Simply Divine Ceremonies are those three words. Julie and I will
remain eternally grateful to Akasha for her unfailing ability to spread her warm and calming
influence on our day, without which would undoubtedly have led to chaos.”
