BABY BLESSING/NAMING
What a blessing and a gift the arrival of a new baby is. When you think of the whole process involved
which culminates in that magical moment of holding a new born child, it's nothing short of a miracle.

Most families want to mark this incredible occasion in some way and many will of course opt for a traditional
welcome linked with their own faith or tradition.
However, and increasingly in today's society, many couples are not aligned with a particular faith but
equally they feel a spiritual connection with a higher source. As an Interfaith Minister, I will work with you to create a joyous celebration that welcomes your baby into your family and which
embraces your own beliefs. It may be that you are in a mixed faith relationship and want to honour both
traditions.
The key of Interfaith is respect, integration and flexibility.
If you have other children already, it's lovely to involve them in the welcoming ceremony too and is a very
good way of encouraging deeper bonding.
A blessing ceremony is also a wonderful way to welcome an adopted child - no matter what age.
A wise sage once said:
"A baby is God's opinion that life should go on.
Never will the time come
when the most marvellous recent invention
is as marvellous as a newborn baby"
Here are comments from recent naming ceremonies...........

Hello Akasha,
The dust has settled now following xxxxxxxx's "blessing" and we had a fabulous day.
In terms of the ceremony, it went just how we wanted it to go and you were absolutely right when it came to the blessing, xxxxxxx was completely mesmerised - many people noticed this in the room and were amazed that the lollipop came out and went back in again on cue (as if a sign of respect).
With your guidance and support, we really did have the occasion we were looking for. Many of our friends and family have said what a lovely "service" it was, and that you were "really good".
For me, I would say that when I started searching the internet I was "looking for something that felt right" - and luckily we found just that in your services as an Interfaith Minister - the spirituality without the religion struck exactly the right note for me.
Thank you very much. Love and smiles, A & G, Southampton, UK

"Never having been to a naming ceremony before, we really had no idea of the format
the day would take or how we could make a ceremony from the family gathering. We decided to use a celebrant to run a
more formalised ceremony and Akasha was recommended to us. Right from the first contact, Akasha was really
helpful - she listened to us and our family story, and helped us to organise our thoughts on how we wanted the naming ceremony to
work. After our initial contact, Akasha came to our house to get to know us and brought with her many useful ideas, such as
readings and poems, together with a possible outline ceremony as well as ideas for godparents and grandparents. She
was very thorough and we both felt the ceremony was in safe hands. In the lead up to the day, Akasha made contact with us
again, and as we had been busy and not got round to making contact ourselves, this really made us feel like we were not forgotten
and that she was giving us her time and consideration. On the day of the ceremony, Akasha put us at ease, as naturally
we were feeling nervous! The blessing was beautiful and our baby girl was relaxed and at
ease" S & B, Bristol, UK

"Thank you for the wonderful day we had yesterday. Many people
commented that the ceremony was beautiful and we had lots of enquiries as to where we had found you! Having planned the day
so intensively for four weeks, it was great that it was everything we hoped for and the blessing just flowed naturally and
smoothly. Thank you for all your guidance and support - we really appreciated your attention to detail, your bright
uplifting manner and your
humour!"
